Bless this new album!

TOOL2019,

Seems funny this album is called Fear Inoculum because as a TOOL fan waiting many years for the new album who hasn’t been afraid of this album sucking? Thankfully the boys blessed us with this immunity against shitty music and absolutely knocked it out of the park. Likely their last new content studio album but we can say resoundingly; it’s fucking good.

The album

Each song seems to wrap flavors of TOOL from all angles. Fear Inoculum kicks off reminding us of the venom in mania, representing the mass mania and how destructive it’s become. Challenges are made in Descending telling us as a species how we must overcome and survive. Invincible reminding us old TOOL heads how far long it’s been and how tired we’ve become still being warriors. Instrumental songs come in to cleanse our palates and move us to the next face melting, soul searching and finally closing the loops our our journey with this amazing band. Topped off with the last two electronica type drum focused and ending, I was left wondering if Danny truly made a deal with an alchemist to be able to drum like none other. But there’s a fineness such as a wine that ages.

The concerts

I’ve had the chance to see them twice in the past week, Philly and Atlantic City. As a live band, they killed it each show. These guys at 50 do better than any band I’ve seen or heard. Justin had food poisoning and could likely have been shitting himself on stage in AC, but showed up and killed it. If this is indeed their last run live, I got to see them twice and it’s something I’ll always remember. If I died tomorrow I would have ended my run as a TOOL fan with two live shows within a week. It’s very apropos and as a fan this is a band that will never ever be replicated. I’ve been blessed not with the immunity Maynard spoke of but being alive and having the ability to experience this band through the end of my High School years to now my mid 40’s. Each song from their albums will always audibly connect my memory to ups, downs, highs and lows of the last 30 years of my life. This may sound like a Eulogy but it’s just a reflection of the great years these guys have sacrificed to produce and provide us with not only entertainment, but life-long connections that we’ll share as fans to our friends, kids, family, and anyone who will listen.

The sappiness

Not that I feel my shitty blog ever has a chance to be see by the band, but if they ever did, I’d say I’ve never been rich enough to see them via VIP experiences, by luck in the cities they’ve played in, but they’ve been a critical piece of my life for most of my life. I appreciate all you do, you’ve enhanced my life and many others.

New TOOL album to be released ‘soon’

If we’re to believe the latest rumors a new TOOL album will be released ‘soon.’  Let’s get right to it.  First we have Justin saying it’s “in the oven” (around the 9min mark is the goods for those of you with little patience).  This can be taken in a myriad of ways, what kind of oven, at what temp, for how long???!?!  More questions than answers but!!

Then Danny is a guest on the Seth Myers Show and Seth says the album is “coming sometime soon” and apparently Danny acknowledges this.  Now to me this is flimsy as all hell, *BUT* then Reddit comes in and two posts fan this itty bitty teensy weensy small flame to something of an inferno.

But wait there’s more!!!

These Redditors make for a very convincing argument to the validity of a new album coming soon.  In this writer’s opinion I am sold on the East coast trip and the Bob Ludwig connection.  Either we’re continuing to get played or we may very well see a TOOL album very very soon.  Comment your thoughts on whether you agree we’ll see new TOOL soon or not!!

Otherwise I cant go on!!

Damn I need some new TOOL as I’m sure everyone else out in TOOL land feels amirite?!?!?  It’s weird I’ve consciously or sub-consciously had my Maynard playlist (Puscifer, APC, and TOOL) on 24/7 lately (great for early morning workouts btw).  It seems I cant get enough of them again and hopefully that’s the world bending me to the will of TOOL and their hopefully soon to be released new album.

We’re also starting to see buzz and chatter almost weekly now that involve TOOL or their members.  Today over at Adam’s facebook page is a quick little diddy from one of the guys from Motorhead who happen to be recording in the studio next to TOOL (I love the bit at the end a TOOL/Motorhead tour *swoon*) and check out the bit of guitar work as well mayhaps a base for a new tune who knows but it was good!!

Second bit of recent news is Danny doing the drums with some folks from Mastodon called The Seagull Men.  Kind of trippy site BUT you can download two of their tunes for free (i’m quite liking Ships Wreck).

Lastly Blair.  So I’m pretty sure I signed up for the newsletter but I don’t recall getting it ever (I should check with my ISP to make sure they aren’t blocking them I suppose) but apparently Blair did Blair things on the last one and everyone is back to trying to decipher to figure out.  Also the reddit.com/r/toolband is a great bunch of TOOL fans you should add that to your TOOL web links stat.

So whats this all mean who the F knows but lets hope it means a new TOOL album and/or maybe some tours in 2015.

Finally trying to get this thing moving…

Hoping we can start talking some TOOL!!  Been a while trying to figure something out on this thing and just said fuck it and put up stupid WordPress to get something going.  It’s bland and plain but we’ll figure it out eventually.

On to the goods Cam from the TOOL Facebook group (cool group sign up for it I highly recommend it) is saying rumor on the street that TOOL is hard at work/balls to the wall on the new album now that their lawsuit is settled.  Is it true, is it malarky, is it another TOOL prank to get us all excited?  Who the f knows right we can only hope.  What’s everyone else think?  Chime in and share with friends?
