Danny Carey’s recent medical emergency and the very real threat of the band cancelling their gig at Aftershock apparently came from negative energy.  That’s if you’re all in on the recently October Tool Newsletter penned by Blair.  The full newsletter found here goes on very lengthily but the jist upfront is that we were all forewarned our fate if we fans were to be too negative.  We caused Danny’s spider bite, subsequent misdiagnosis, then correct diagnosis and treatment, and for him to play in severe pain?  Hmm.

I mean I get the whole lets be Blair and whimsical but is anyone else feeling this is going so overboard?  The references to the bad mojo or whatever goes on for 6 paragraphs to start this wayyy too long newsletter.  Then we get to hear about some Rance Q Spartley and this fake loft rehearsal studio, then the new replacement one in Kansas, then Peeps, then who gives a turkey.

I guess Blair may be losing his mind trying to fill time until the fellas get this new album out.  But as a dedicated fan since 1992 these gimmicky newsletters and negativity warnings only make me more negative!

By now if you follow TOOL you’ve seen Adam’s Instagram post that talks about Danny Carey being a beast.  Danny went on to play through a serious Staph infection.   As well in this writer’s opinion we get to hear what sounds like new music.  It has to be said again DANNY CAREY IS A BEAST!! By all accounts Staph is a bitch, this infection was classified as “serious” and doctors advised him not to play.  Doing a whole set through the pain is nothing short of bad ass rock star shit.  As many times as fans say TOOL can be hard on their fans, I think this is a shining moment to the testament of the “show must go on.”

To live in a time where we get to witness one of the greatest drummers has to be the equivalent of getting to see Jimi Hendrix or John Bonham or insert anyone of the greats perform!!  The post essentially says Danny visited a doctor got misdiagnosed with a spider bite, then when it got worse went to a different doctor who drained a quarter sized wound to find it rife with Staph.  And the dude went on to PLAY A WHOLE FUCKING SET LIKE A GOD.  Sorry the caps are the best emphasis I have right now.  Here’s the story direct from Adam’s Instagram.  As well the follow up post from the show from Salt Lake demonstrates how lucky we are for great fucking antibiotics as Danny barely has a limp.

If rumors were albums we’d have enough TOOL music for our grandchildren’s children.  There’s very little to go on and it does not seem there’s an end in sight for our wait for the new album. The most recent rumor is the double album rumor which Maynard seems to have effectively shat upon (see here).  True to form it is all rumor and talk no real facts.  There’s only been a bits of good confirmed news lately:

Lets see how long it takes for the Q/A’s to get messy with the “When’s the new TOOL album coming out questions.” Maynard has not demonstrated much patience with questions about TOOL in the past when he’s focused on a non-TOOL project.

That’s fantastic but they have not even recorded anything yet. No actual recording seems to imply a much longer wait than previous expected.

More TOOL dates announced (no where near the Northeast by the way WTF)
It’s always great to see the band and there’s simmering jealously for the friends I have on the West side getting a shot to see the boys live. It would be even nicer to maybe say come to the Northeast and play some shows!!

SO…….NO TOOL ALBUM IN SIGHT!!!
I don’t know when we’ll ever see this album. None of us are getting any younger that’s for sure. I hope they have plenty of wheelchair access in the venues by the time this album comes out and they tour for it.

Ugh I cant take the wait any longer lol, but I will because that’s what we TOOL fans do right?
