Well gang, it’s been a long time, around 7 months to be a guesstimate.  But some say the end is near, yes some say we’ll see a TOOL album soon!  Seems ironic that our last update 7 months ago was about the same as today.   We still have no fucking clue on when we’re going to see a TOOL album.  Does this make us sadomasochistic?  Feels like it don’t it?  Let’s get to it, the album is coming!

So good to see you I’ve missed you so much

Valentine’s Day was about love and TOOL updates with a flurry of articles to come that indicate more visitors to the studio claiming *gasp* the boys sound great and have gotten all the music done and files have been sent to the HeadMotherFuckerInCharge.   He’s OGT since 92 and gotten lyrics done for all but one song!  Rolling Stones pens a piece laying out all this glorious Maynard is writing lyrics and new music is flowing and new albums is coming.  Then theirs King Buzz and Adams post on March recording!!  Things are finally right in the world of TOOL.

“Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1.Someday we’ll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we’re closer.”  Again this is where Maynard takes a dump on the band about their process and really comes off like the dick he is.  But hey it’s the new album and it’s well on it’s way to being done finally!!!

But within days HMFIC removes the tweet and queue the explosions of TOOL fan heads ’round the world.  What’s it all mean?  MAYNARD WHY YOU DO DIS?  We will see new APC in a month and while that’s good news but lets be honest it’s not TOOL and based on the pre-leased tracks it’s not even the caliber of Mer de Noms, it’s this writers opinion it’ll be more like Emotive.  No one knows what’s going on and we won’t until we see a new album, lets face it we’re the donkey and they hold the carrot and keep extending the rod.

Maynard finally opens up about TOOL and APC album delays

Well it seems that being asked by the right person was all we needed for Maynard to be open about the delays for the upcoming TOOL and APC albums.  Joe Rogan and Maynard spent some time on the recent Joe Rogan podcast (Episode# 986 convo starts at the 1:22:50 mark) discussing TOOL and APC.  Old Joe seems to have the key to cracking the Maynard code of not discussing upcoming albums.  To know one’s surprise it’s not Maynard’s fault if you listen to him.  /sarcasm

For TOOL, the frontman says that the bands “tedious” writing process continues to hold up the album.  Claiming Justin, Danny, and Adam just like to dig in, overanalyze, do and redo all the work they’ve done has stalled any progress and will do so for a while.  Add in some “fear” of failure based on the previous TOOL album successes are the reasons for major delays.   It’s basically the band’s fault for the delay.  Maynard at one point calls the writing and arranging as “Rain Man” like, the implication is that the hard part of sitting in a studio watching all this go down isn’t and should not be something Maynard can or be expected to do.  In his words, he goes and builds a vineyard for 5 years and comes back and they are doing the same thing.  In the APC world, it’s Howerdel’s being too deep in the weeds and Maynard coaching him out to look at the bigger picture.

On one hand it’s Maynard being the asshole he is, on the other hand, I’m surprised that based on this that TOOL and APC are still together after these kinds of things.  In today’s world of egos, big headedness, and butt hurt feelings, seems this has to sting the guys a little and why not let Maynard do his thing and be done?  What’s the draw of having them get dumped on for wanting to provide the best product to the fans?  Is Maynard that guy who is so busy to be bothered with the hard part of the work?  Some can say coming in and whipping up some lyrics is the easy part.

Dont know about you but the more album news that comes out lately just frustrates and angers fans waiting to give these guys their money.  Getting re-hashed tours that are overpriced seems to being wearing thin from this writer’s perspective ($75 to $300 for good APC seats in Camden NJ is beyond aggravating) just get a fucking album out already.  Everyone works right?  Everyone have a boss that says “Hey no worries it’s been 10 years get the product out when you feel like it”?  Nope.  Can we say “well it’s the other team member’s fault”?  We can but we divide and sour the team.  This is what seems to be happening here.

Let’s hope the respective bands can pull it together and get to dear Maynard’s level so he can write and lay vocals down so we see albums this lifetime.

TOOL “Deep into writing process”

TOOL’s bassist Justin Chancellor speaks out saying that the band is “deep into the writing process now”.  Every other month someone chimes in on the work on the album but it never seems to move far from the last update.  Readers should note the tone of this article to not be the positive vibe the band requests and this writer apologizes in advance.   It’s hard to remain positive when all that’s heard is the same old rigamarole from someone different on the band.

The folks over at Blabbermouth.net have an interview with Justin where he ranges from guilty to be happy folks we’re really working to make this album right.  TOOL fans are no amateurs when it comes to patience but at some point over the last 10-11 years can we gripe just a little that this painstakingly slow masterpiece get finished in our life times?

Justin dishes on the fact that they are working on one of the newer songs “over the past few months” so one song every few months = 11 years for an album it seems.  While Justin seems to acknowledge the length of time TOOL takes he does indicate he feels some guilt but the process is the process.  But rest assured they are their own worst critics and want to ensure the album is up to snuff for themselves and their fans.

The article goes on to cover aspects of how they have their own products and since the album creation is so long they tour for a while after then need a break between starting it up again.  Of course he says the lawsuits have limited their creativity a bit but now are all in with all members of the band with the exception of Maynard tooling around in the studio.  There’s everyone putting bits of songs together from their works captured on mobile devices to jamming.  Another interesting note is the repeated reference to “two albums” worth of material but only 5 have met the “TOOL standard.”  At this rate we’ll all be dead TOOL fans when a double album comes out.

As for Maynard he’s noted as quipping back in a way only Maynard would do about claims he’s the lazy bandmate causing further delays.  Maynard when asked about the lazy reference was quoted by the Wall Street Journal “I really love Led Zeppelin, and it’s a shame they’re not making more records, more records.  But I got up this morning without any problem.  We’re working on it… Do I appear to you to be a lazy person who doesn’t want to get that done?”

So there you have it, TOOL’s working hard rinse/repeat.

TOOL claims “shocking amount of new songs”

Tool is saying they have shocking amounts of new songs in the chute!  The folks over at AlternativeNation.net report on a Reddit user who described his meet and greet with the band.  The user D1g1talS0ul claims that during the meet and greet Adam played a riff from the new album and said there’s so much music they could do two albums *but* only 5 songs “meet their (tools) standard right now.”  Here’s the link with the post.  TWO albums (there’s those caps again) that’s crazy talk right?  Take what you will from that I suppose because the word was the two album rumor was bogus a few weeks ago now we have more references.

At this rate everyone would probably just be happy with one new album for now.

New TOOL album to be released ‘soon’

If we’re to believe the latest rumors a new TOOL album will be released ‘soon.’  Let’s get right to it.  First we have Justin saying it’s “in the oven” (around the 9min mark is the goods for those of you with little patience).  This can be taken in a myriad of ways, what kind of oven, at what temp, for how long???!?!  More questions than answers but!!

Then Danny is a guest on the Seth Myers Show and Seth says the album is “coming sometime soon” and apparently Danny acknowledges this.  Now to me this is flimsy as all hell, *BUT* then Reddit comes in and two posts fan this itty bitty teensy weensy small flame to something of an inferno.

But wait there’s more!!!

These Redditors make for a very convincing argument to the validity of a new album coming soon.  In this writer’s opinion I am sold on the East coast trip and the Bob Ludwig connection.  Either we’re continuing to get played or we may very well see a TOOL album very very soon.  Comment your thoughts on whether you agree we’ll see new TOOL soon or not!!

I got nothing folks lol.  I thought by now we would see something anything but It’s a week or so shy of June 2016 and NO ALBUM.  At best we have Maynard’s take on Trump, his remarks in March on not being able to move forward, and his memoir getting a title.  All basically a bunch of who gives a shit.  I need a new album, I’m listening to Taylor Swift for christ sakes (ok I know lame excuse) haha.  But seriously we need this album already, so lets hope the guys can pull it together and get this thing done soon.

On another note anyone who ever reads this and digs beer and death metal should try and get to TRVE Brewery in Denver, Colorado and check it out what is the best death metal brewery ever!  Here’s their website check it out.  Good beer and about 6 blocks from Illegal Pete’s if you dig Mexican food too.

 

Maynard implies no TOOL music ready yet for harmonies or lyrics

Seems the only folks making news is Maynard and Puscifer anymore but we did get a sad little nugget from Rolling Stone’s interview with Maynard, found here.  Basically the implication and short of it is that TOOL have not provided him with any music to which he can write “lyrics and melodies”.  Seems 2016 is going to be what we are stuck with, hell maybe 2017 at this snail’s pace.  It’s become very hard to be a TOOL fan anymore lol.  But we will persevere as that’s what we do right? (or we just don’t have a choice hahaha).

With that aside and out of the way the article is pretty good in my opinion.  I love Maynard’s take on life and humankind.  The societal remarks are one of the few times I laughed out loud reading an interview article.  Brilliant brilliant man our Maynard is, guess that’s why we all dig him.

On to Puscifer, granted only two songs out now from the new upcoming album but I’m not feeling it yet.  I have to say out of the 3 projects Puscifer is the one I have the hardest getting into, I can’t figure it out.  Don’t get me wrong I love a few songs from the various albums (Indigo Children and just about every song on Conditions of my Parole is probably my most favorite album so far).

Well I am out of things to say I want to try and keep this primarily a TOOL blog and there’s not much TOOL goings on.  Take care, be cool to each other, and stay patient.

COMEONALREADY, TOOL2015

So it’s been quiet right?  I mean I love TOOL but W T F guys it’s taking FOREVER to get to the golden goose!  The biggest news so far since my last update was our friend and the best lead vocals in the world, Maynard James Keenan, had hip surgery.  I put on my Facebook when I saw it that there’s nothing like seeing your favorite lead singer from the days of high school getting a hip surgery to remind you how fucking old you have become.

Any how been jamming a lot of APC, Puscifer, and TOOL to help pass the time but I need NEW DAMN IT!  I guess we’ll just sit and wait and hope we don’t turn out like this guy!

COMEONALREADY, TOOL2015

Seems more and more “leaks”, bits, and crumbs as we just saw an update on the TOOL Facebook page with a pretty cool accompanying pic!

Based on the post supposedly MJK was saying he’s traveling more to LA to meet with the band and things are going very TOOL like slow and steady.  Not ready for his contributions of “melody and content” but getting there.

Hopefully before we’re all 60 we’ll see this new album!!
